Rope Handling, Flow, and Function
This class is a collection of key concepts and fundamentals that can be used to tie more effectively and efficiently. The class is broken into 3 sections, with each building on the next. The first section focuses on moving rope and applying rope, while maintaining connection with the rope bottom. The second section focuses on frictions, and how to create and apply them effectively. The third section is a free tie where participants use the skills and concepts from the first sections of the class to tie their rope bottom. No specific patterns will be taught in this class.
Following poisonwell’s workshop, we will be offering our intro classes to those interested. RopeLab’s Rope 101 and/or Rope 102 curriculum will be offered depending on the needs of the group. time permitting
To get anywhere in rope as a top or bottom, you must master the fundamentals. This workshop is meant to be taken more than once so that you can create a solid foundation for more advanced techniques. You should have this stuff down before moving on to the 102 workshops. The workshop typically covers Rope Kits, Rope Handling Basics, Basic Chest Harnesses, Munter Hitches, Single-column ties, and a basic Futomomo pattern.
While mastering the fundamentals should be a lifelong pursuit, this workshop will build upon and expand on the skills learned in Rope 101 to help take you to the next level. This workshop typically covers a review of the Rope 101 fundamentals followed by joining rope, a two-rope chest harness, the Somerville Bowline Single and Two Column, and some free-form practice drills.
