Presenter Bio

Beginning 25 years ago with a mix of flea market handcuffs, bathrobe belts and neck ties, knot_head has always loved bondage. For him it IS about the simple, strict, positional bondage, and “what happens once their tied,” challenging predicaments being his favorite.

Although he began with Japanese style rope, he’s since gravitated to the strict, clean, efficient, Western style of riggers like Jay Edwards, Matt Williams, Lew Rubens and Claire Adams. He still loves learning all sorts of tips, ties and tricks, and will eagerly attend almost any rope class or bondage workshop.

In the past few years he caught the photography bug and loves showing kinksters how easy it can be to get a quality shot with their gear, in almost any setting.

His schtick is to make bondage (and photography) simple and fun for anyone willing to learn.

Saturday Rope & Photo/Modeling Intensive

RopeLab will be hosting a day-long workshop on photography and modeling that Saturday. The content will be somewhat fluid, depending on the skill level and skill sets of those attending. No, you don’t need a fancy pants camera to participate - (even a camera phone could work)!

Optimal equipment for class:

  • A digital camera with manual settings (but anything will work, even a mobile phone)

  • A hot shoe

An understanding of three things will be helpful:

  • How to adjust aperture/F stop

  • Shutter speed

  • Setting white balance

Offered topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Basics: triangles, composition, lighting, etc

  • Flattering your subject (photogs and models): posing, composition, angles, lighting, clothing, ties, and lens length

  • Face angles

  • Lighting - reflectors, walls, windows, strobes and wands

  • Location lighting

  • Low key lighting

  • Miscellaneous: model negotiations, picking a concept, setting up, order of rigging, editing

That’s a lot of available topics, and those present will help guide what’s covered!!

Saturday Night Party at HighPoint!

RopeLab will be hosting one of its Play Party/UPL evenings. Come out and tie with friends in a chill atmosphere as a middle marker for this weekend of learning! Plus, knot_head will have his photo setup with a sign up so you can get that hot new pic for your profile.

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!!

RopeLab will be hosting an extended, intensive-style meeting with MORE KNOT_HEAD!!

Please note: nylon rope is not necessary for these classes, though there will be instruction on how to tie with it.

Western double limbs, elbows and variations (Discussion and tie along)

Digging into the Western Aesthetic a little. This is the other big building block for functional bondage. There are a myriad of variations for tying two roughly parallel limbs (ok, or columns).

We’ll add tips and tricks to your toolkit, like: the figure 8 cinch, Elbow ties, crab ties, quick release bondage for sex tie, several wide span double, friction cuff, frogged legs with heel, chicken wing/T-rex, running double/"Cobie tie" (I get asked about it a lot), and problem solving.

Puppet suspension (hands-on, ready to suspend skill level. Shorter lengths of rope will be helpful)

7 lift points and the ability to change the position without re-tying anything. It's fun, comfortable and a great first suspension or non-threatening intro to bondage. Walk through this unique, classic tie, complete with safety checks and short cuts. Includes basic chest harness and gunslinger hip harness. You can use your own chest and hip harness if you prefer.

Introduction to Predicament play (demo, followed by tie along class)

This is NOT the hug and swoon performance rope you are used to seeing. Introduction to a completely different kind of rope bondage play. We’ll work through negotiations, safety, engineering, and an adjustable knot that makes this type of play more enjoyable.

Several different predicaments will be deconstructed and demo’d. There should be some opportunity for tie along and practice depending on time and experience level of the group.

Predicament tie along and lab time (basic suspension skill level, knowledge of your partner and how to read them, suspendable chest harness or TK, and "futumomo" or frogged leg)

AKA: “Predicaments aren't JUST for 90# yoga bunnies”.

We’ll work through some basic engineering for safety and fun in discussion, and then as a group we'll tie along a simple, diabolical, (almost) safe neck rope to crotch rope, partial suspension predicament.

This tie is designed for a female bottom (with modifications available for male-bodied persons), on a simple chain point (doesn't need a frame). It’s also engineered to fail in a safe direction. It’s a fun tie for the couple to play in and can be adjusted both for intensity and for most physical limitations.

Time permitting we’ll lab out YOUR ideas, and see where we could tweak and engineer within an acceptable level of safety.
